Thinking of booking a Tatkal ticket? Well, you’ve got your work cut out for you!

Getting a confirmed Tatkal ticket seems nothing short of a miracle. You somehow manage to find a tatkal availability, but the transaction fails at the very last moment. Or the payment times out while you were laboriously entering your bank details. You try and reiterate the entire process again but find that the availability is no longer so. Aren’t we all too familiar with this problem?

This is why we have compiled 5 easy tips for you to book Tatkal tickets quickly.

1. Opt for the fastest internet connection you have access to

Improved internet connectivity ensures quicker opening of the IRCTC website, quicker search and thereby quicker payment and booking of ticket. Small delay of seconds might result in your booking not going through or the payment getting timed out.

2. Login before the Tatkal peak hour

Try logging in some minutes before the Tatkal peak hour (10:00 AM for A.C. and 11:00 AM for Non-A.C.) which normally sees a sudden burst of traffic causing the website to slow down and login failures.

Avoid logging in from the same credentials on multiple browsers/devices simultaneously as on detecting it IRCTC might log you out from all the sessions.

3. Keep your passenger list ready

Keep all the necessary information ready at hand including passenger name and details, station codes, etc.

A better idea would be to maintain a Master List on your IRCTC account. A Master List allows you to save all the passenger details like name, age, Id card type, food and berth preference.

You can find the option under “My Profile”→ “Master List” on your IRCTC account. You can use it to autofill details every time you book a ticket and save a significant amount of time.

4. Choose a fast payment method

Using ePayLater on IRCTC not only makes your payment process a breeze but also helps you beat the tatkal rush. Without having to pay at the time of booking or any hassle of punching in lengthy bank account or card details your booking experience is quick and seamless.

To use ePayLater’s services on IRCTC, you will be required to sign up on ePayLater once and enjoy swift booking going forward.

5. Don’t wait for OTP

Ensure you have good mobile connectivity so that you don’t get slowed down waiting for an OTP. A better alternative would be to use ePayLater’s In-app OTP.  In-app OTP is a new feature on the app that auto-generates OTP so you don’t have to wait endlessly for the message.

All you have to do is open the app while booking your ticket with ePayLater, and select In-App OTP from the profile section. You can copy this OTP and use it to complete your booking quickly.
